What Is Flat Rolling?
Flat rolling is a metalworking process wherein a metal ingot is heated up and passed through a series of rollers in order to produce a much thinner, longer plate of metal, which can then go on to be used in a range of applications including construction, transportation and manufacturing.
Flat rolling can go by other names depending on how it is executed. “Hot rolling” refers to when the steel is heated, whilst “cold rolling” refers to metal ingots flat rolled at room temperature. At AST, we can provide you with numerous hot rolled products to suit the job at hand.
